Wide Power
Plastics are derived from organic products. Materials such as cellulose, coal, natural gas, salt and crude oil used in the production of plastics are natural products.
Crude oil is a complex mixture of thousands of components, it needs to be processed in order to be useful. The production of plastic raw materials begins with the distillation process, which takes place at an oil refinery. The distillation process involves the separation of heavy crude oil into lighter groups called fractions. Each fraction is a mixture of hydrocarbon chains (chemical components made from carbon and hydrogen), which differ in molecular size and structure. One of these fractions, naphtha, is an extremely important element in the production of plastics.
Wide History
The use of plastics in our country began in about 1880. The plastic processing industry in Türkiye started to be established after 1955. With the large scale introduction of plastic to our daily lives, this branch of industry developed day by day and started to be used in many areas.
Plastics are lighter than metals, more insulating against heat and electricity, and have many advantages with their chemical and physical properties. They are more than raw materials, cheaper, and the manufacturing processes are simpler and more economical as a result.
In our country, 7605 companies operate in the plastics sector and 167 of these companies have foreign equity partnerships.
Türkiye is the world's sixth and Europe's second-largest plastic manufacturer. Government support and investments in the sector are behind this success.
Our country follows technologies closely and implements them. Flexible production and rapid decision making due to SME characteristics are some of the most important positive features of plastic production in Türkiye.
Türkiye exports products with the right price policy with the breadth of its production capacity and qualified workforce.
Türkiye, which has a great advantage in terms of logistics, is able to reach destinations by truck in most of Europe and the Middle East in 24 to 36 hours.
