TURKISH STEEL INDUSTRY
The steel sector played an important role in Türkiye's industrialization movement beginning in the 1930s. Steel is vital for the development of the existing industry as well as the establishment and growth of new industrial branches.
Today, there are 27 electric arc furnace mill plants (EAF), 11 induction furnace plants and 3 BOF plants in Türkiye.
50 Million Tons Crude Production Capacity
It's total crude steel production capacity is over 50 million tons as of 2023. Steel products are used mainly in construction, automotive, ship, aircraft, railway, and railcar materials, and all machinery, equipment, and goods production. These products are preferred not only in Türkiye but all over the world. So much so that in the last 10 years, it has achieved an important position in the world’s steel markets with its production and exports.
